Széchenyi István University is a major player in drone research and development in Hungary. In addition to providing high quality education to students, the institution also enhances the knowledge of social and economic actors in the region through state-of-the-art services.
Széchenyi István University plays a decisive role in Hungarian drone research. It carries out its developments in the service of sustainability but in line with market needs. In addition to its R&D and innovation activities, drone technology and its potential applications are also prominently displayed in education. It offers training in drone control and data analysis to its students, while the services it offers to various organisations and businesses will enhance the theoretical and practical knowledge of professionals in the region.
The drone training at Széchenyi István University started with theoretical education.
“Our latest training was held at the request of the Győr-Moson-Sopron County branch of the Association of Hungarian Reservists (abbreviated as MATASZ in Hungarian). The participants received practical training on the operation, control and fields of application of drones at the Albert Kázmér Faculty of Széchenyi István University in Mosonmagyaróvár.
The tasks included not only the general set-up and handling of the drones, but also the execution of various manoeuvres and the safe approach to objects. The feedback we received on the training was very good, so we expect to continue the cooperation in the future. Our goal is to make our drone training, like the services provided by the university’s laboratories, easily accessible and available to social and economic actors,” said Takács Olivér, a colleague of the university’s Digital Development Centre.
The participants received practical training on the operation, control and fields of application of drones at the Albert Kázmér Faculty of Széchenyi István University in Mosonmagyaróvár.
Dr. Pozsgay Péter, the Győr-Moson-Sopron county president of MATASZ emphasised that the reserve soldiers who participated in the training gained important knowledge. “Our association, which is also a non-governmental organisation of the Ministry of Defence, is a bridge between the military and the civil society. Drawing the conclusions of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war, we believe it is important to equip our reserve units with the knowledge of modern technology and the use of drones for civilian purposes, so that they can be competent and prepared.
Széchenyi University organised a special, practice-oriented training course, attended mainly by reserve artillery soldiers. The programme focused on finding the various objects that play a key role in detection. At the end of the programme, the reservists were enriched with important information and basic skills essential for handling drones. The training provided by the Győr institution has been a great success among the participants, and seeing the positive feedback we are looking forward to similar cooperation in the future.”, dr. Pozsgay Péter explained.
