The E\u00f6tv\u00f6s Lor\u00e1nd Research Network Secretariat (ELKH) colleagues have made a visit on their professional development day to ZalaZONE where they also experienced first hand the progress of various contemporary research projects connected to Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University\u2019s JKK-Laboratories at the ZalaZONE Test Center on 2023. June 1. They were invited by Prof. Dr. Bokor J\u00f3zsef, holding positions of ELKH\u2019s governing body\u2019s vice president, SZTAKI\u2019s scientific director, and Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University\u2019s research and innovation vice president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ELKH Secretariat colleagues together with, Dr. H\u00e1ry Andr\u00e1s, ZalaZONE Industry Park\u2019s CEO were guided by Kov\u00e1cs L\u00f3r\u00e1nt while they toured 250 hectare test track on a bus. The tour provided them with information about the different track modules, their technical parameters, and also about the various standard tests completed there. After the track tour a combined demonstration was made for them by researcher from SZE JKK, ELKH IT, SZTAKI regarding autonomous vehicles and drone usages held at ZalaZONE\u2019s R&D track module located adjacent to the Research & Technology Center that is also the location for the JKK-ZalaZONE laboratories. The complex demonstration commentary and explaination was given by Dr. Szauter Ferenc, director of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University\u2019s Vehicle Industry Research Center (JKK).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the demonstartion the visitors were shown a Nissan Leaf\u2019s trajectory tracking and a Toyota Prius\u2019s high voltage battery diagnostics on the track module, while at the JKK-ZalaZONE laboratories they witnessed the digital-twin model of Volkswagen e-GOLF developed by SZE JKK researcher. A special highlight should be given top part of the demonstration, an autonomous overtaking simulation where vehicles with LIDAR sensors repeatedly watching their environment and sense relevant objects. The demonstration also used an industrial multirotored camera system which was attached to a flying drone. The demonstration was created by Dr. Horv\u00e1th Ern\u0151 (SZE JKK), B\u00e9zi Patrik (SZE JKK), Szak\u00e1llas G\u00e1bor (SZE JKK), Wellner Andr\u00e1s (SZE Digital Development Center), Korcz Mikl\u00f3s (SZE Digital Development Center), Dr. Aradi Szil\u00e1rd (BME and SZTAKI), Barta Oliv\u00e9r (BME), Feh\u00e9r \u00c1rp\u00e1d (BME), Szab\u00f3 \u00c1d\u00e1m (BME), Prof. Dr. Szir\u00e1nyi Tam\u00e1s (SZTAKI), Tizedes L\u00e1szl\u00f3 (SZTAKI) and K\u00e9gl Marcell (SZTAKI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ELKH guests later in the afternoon before their departure also visited both the BAY Institutes and BME simulation labs as well as Research & Technology Center\u2019s material science lab.
