One of the highlights of the Hungarian rally season will be the WHB Gy\u0151r Rally, where one of the high-speed stages of the race will take place on the campus of Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University this September 10th<\/sup>. The event will also showcase the institution’s developments and achievements, including the various vehicles of its world elite student racing teams and the university inhouse prototype electric go-kart project, all very exciting for even those visitors 10 years and older.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A decades-old dream will be realised this weekend: the Arrabona Rally Club, founded by Gy\u0151r’s sports enthusiasts, TRP Hungary, and Mitko Hungary will bring Hungarian rallying back to Gy\u0151r from the 8th<\/sup> to 10th<\/sup> of September, with the race including historic sites such as the speed stages between Csesznek and T\u00e9ny\u0151-Ravazd as well as the R\u00e1baring. The most memorable event of the competition, however, is expected to be the downtown speed stage in Gy\u0151r, which will take place partly on the campus of the Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University on Sunday the 10th<\/sup> of September from a quarter to noon (11:45). This is a significant event and is of particular importance for the university as well as the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The WHB Gy\u0151r Rally is a great opportunity to get a glimpse of ground-breaking developments we are proud of. During the weekend, we will showcase our student racing teams and their race cars on the university campus, and this includes the advances in electric drivetrain we have developed for go-kart motorsport. We are grateful for the partnership of the city and the organisers to be able to host this outstanding event and to be part of its organisation. We believe that through motorsport we can attract more talented students to our institution,” said Dr. Ferenc Szauter, Director of the University’s Centre for Automotive Research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The university will also provide entertainment for the complete family during the WHB Gy\u0151r Rally where students over the age of ten will have the opportunity to try out the electric go-kart and learn about electric car-motor sports. The institution is particularly pleased that one of its students, Krist\u00f3f Klausz, will be taking part in the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s really special for me that I can now compete on a truly home track as a Gy\u0151r native. The race has a lot of excitement in store and I would like to highlight the downtown stage as an important venue to see. As a proud student of Sz\u00e9chenyi University I will do my best on campus to promote, educate, and entertain spectators during the event. Several members of our race team are both my friends and university classmates: we have acquired knowledge here that we can use in everyday life and in competitive sports,” said Krist\u00f3f Klausz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bal\u00e1zs Weingartner, President of the HUMDA Hungarian Mobility Development Agency, thanked Gy\u0151r and all the participants for welcoming the Gy\u0151r Rally with such openness and enthusiasm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This rally is particularly close to our hearts for several reasons. One reason is that HUMDA is the title sponsor of the National Rally Championship this year in cooperation with the Hungarian National Motorsport Association, and another is that HUMDA has been a member of the Sz\u00e9chenyi University Group since the 1st<\/sup> of January this year. In the capital of Europe’s automotive industry Gy\u0151r, we need to take care of the tens of thousands of people working in the automotive industry in an appreciative way, by providing them with entertainment with such a means to an end. We also attach great importance to bringing the love and potential of rallying into everyday life by raising awareness of this fantastic sport among future engineers,” said Bal\u00e1zs Weingartner. Additional activities will include a HUMDA stand, an exposition of Sz\u00e9chenyi University competences and R&D works, a sports car and vintage car exhibition, and the aforementioned go-kart track sub-event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mayor of the city, Dr. Csaba Andr\u00e1s D\u00e9zsi, said \u201cGy\u0151r has a long tradition in motor sports and rallying.
