Leaders from high ranked American universities, metropolitan areas and other significant organizations to part int the Hungarian summit held at the Széchenyi István University in order the strenghten their cooperative relationship within the summit program on June 7. Along with acedamic and professional networking, the guests witnessed the institutions dynamic development hands-on.
With the goal of Hungarian and American higher education and economical relationship development, Pazaurek Piros the Hungarian consule for Mid-Florida created the Hungarian Summit event which is held annually at different locations. Due to the corona virus epidemic the first in person event which was scheduled for Florida was cancelled causing the inaugural event to be hosted this year by Hungary. In addition to the program held in Budapest, the guests, including the mayor of Daytona Beach, NASCAR’s Director, and various Universities presidents and vice presidents all visited the Széchenyi István University campus, the mayor Dr. Dézsi Csaba András’s office, the Audi factory, and our renowned the Révai Miklós High School while in Győr for the day.
Dr. Lukács Eszter the University’s international and strategy relationship deputy president gave a presentation to the guests regarding Hungarian higher education and the role of the University of Győr. She explained that in the last few years 21 Hungarian Universities have undergone a completed organisational model change. These institutions have been placed under individual foundation ownership and management, while these institutions autonomy has remained they have also gain wider financing freedom too. She further explained that the Széchenyi István University has completed its transformation to this new operational model and in so become the sixth largest university in Hungary as well as the fifth best referenced university in Hungary according QS university world ranklist.
Dr. Lukács Eszter also noted that the university’s international relationship bridging process began in 2018; and with good effort after a few years they reached significant results seen in the fact that today- the student population represents 70 countries. In support of its internationalisation, the Széchenyi István University is proud to have started an accredited english MBA training in 2020. During the summit, the deputy president said that it’s very important for them to strenghten their Hungarian-American relationship and they strive for more American students to attend here. The university is offering very interesting short term education programs such as the Audi Development Camp where she also said that they are in tight connection with more than 3000 companies. To strenghten and create interested these cooperations even more so they have developed scientific and innovation parks in Győr, Mosonmagyróvár and Zalaegerszeg. On top of these efforts, the university is putting a lot of emphasis and support one its sports teams. Espacially successful teams included most in water sports and the women’s basketball team. For example our Széchenyi István University of Győr’s rowing team have beaten the UK’s Oxford University team.
