The SZEnergy team is a student competition team at Széchenyi István University, working with teaching and research mentoring, which deals with the development and construction of electric vehicles.
Since 2005, the team has built numerous electric racing vehicles by mentoring faculty and researchers from the Department of Road and Rail Vehicles and the Vehicle Industry Research Center. Initially, solar panels provided the electricity and later the team developed and built battery-powered, purely electric cars. The cars of the SZEnergy team have already proved the results of the team’s research and development, both nationally and internationally. Every year since 2008, the team has participated in the world’s largest energy efficiency competition, the Shell Eco-marathon in Europe, which the team has won 4 times so far.
The Shell Eco-marathon is an energy efficiency competition that has been held for more than 30 years, where students compete with their own designed and built race cars to see who can cover the longest possible distance from a given unit of energy.
Currently, the team is developing the SZEmission Battery Eletric race vehicle, built in 2019, and in 2020, the team joined the development of a Formula Student Electric vehicle.
