Digital Creativity Workshop and Gamer Zone at Mobilis on the Széchenyi István University campus

The Mobilis Interactive Experience Centre, located on the campus of Széchenyi István University in Győr, has implemented improvements partially funded by a inter-regional cross border grant, that make the time spent here and the learning experience even more interactive and exploratory for visitors. The Mobileum Digital Creation Workshop, part of the Experience Centre gives visitors the chance to create working creations themselves using 3D printers, laser cutters, digital embroidery and sewing machines, among others, while the Gamer Zone features a racing car simulator and virtual world for those who dare.

Mobilis Public Benefit Non-profit Ltd was approved for the Interreg V-A Slovakia-Hungary Cooperation Programme to expand the interactive exhibition spaces related to mobility in cooperation with the SlovakiaRing race track operator in Slovakia. As part of this expansion, Mobilis last year established the creative digital design and creation workshop that uses a combination of traditional and cutting-edge technologies to focus on and solve real-world problems with innovative solutions through multiple projects. The centre offers new experiences for the general public and is open to all ages such as  up-to-date knowledge transfer and introductory laboratory activities  for primary and secondary school students, and even more so offers a great resource for students at Széchenyi István University to put their studies into practice in both compulsory and extra curricular projects.

“The Mobilieum Centre provides a range of digital and traditional tools and technologies in one place, where students, visitors and school groups can work independently and creatively in guided or independent activities. The workshop includes microelectronics, 3D printing, laser cutting, digital sewing and embroidery, as well as robotics,” said Bernadett Keszthelyi, CEO of the Mobilis Interactive Experience Centre, when recently discussing the development of the recently completed EU project. She added that their goal is to offer and teach a wide range of activities for different age groups to give visitors access to new technologies. She said the new creative space is an open, innovative workshop for effective and fun training and is a catalystive link between primary, secondary, post secondary, and industry.

Zoltán Németh, President of the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Municipality congratulated all participants regarding the successful development and project realisation.

“The tools here endeavour to produce an exciting and exploratory way to pass on knowledge to children. Now, at a time when the whole world is inundated with  digital stimulation, especially young people, it’s important to use these new methods in education. It is also important that they learn about traditional tools alongside the latest technologies, giving them a complex view of the world,” said the University’s President.

Prof. Dr. Gábor Dogossy, Dean of the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Automotive Engineering at Széchenyi István University presented the research, development and innovation activities of the institution and the opportunities open to students. Among these activities, he highlighted the works of the university’s successful student teams, including the Arrabona Racing Team, a European leader in the Formula Student racing series, and the SZEnergy Team, world record holder in the Shell Eco-marathon, one of the continent’s most prestigious energy efficiency race competitions if not the most prestigious.

“The excellent relationship between the Mobilis Interactive Experience Centre and Széchenyi István University has been further strengthened by this recently completed project, as the digital art workshop provides an opportunity for our students to create their projects using a combination of traditional techniques and the latest digital technologies”, said the Dean.

The project also included the addition of two professional virtual racing car simulators, which can be used by amateur sportsmen and visitors alike. In the Gamer Zone, during the centre’s inauguration at the closing ceremony of the project, the driving simulators were complemented by a variety of VR tools that allowed the visitor to actually enter the virtual space and be part of it.
