”We participate in the German cup every second year, which is an open international race as well as taking part in various Hungarian races every year. This year wtih no German international race, we didn’t have any other choice to look for an alternitive and in this way stumbled upon the Championship of Netherlands. Here, we earned a gold medal in one of the race’s categories. As of today this is the best accomplisment in our teams history.”

The biggest challange in the concrete canoe races is designing a boat that is light, rigid, straight, holds its direction, and also easily maneuverable. The teams prepares multiple boats as you need to be prepare for all racing challenges and situations. In this way they deploy their canoes according to their goal to place in the race and win in individual events. If it needs to go in a straight line, a V form is the best, if it needs to turn a lot a more flat ship is better.

”We made a boat similar in size and form compared to last year’s canoe. However, we used a different wall thickness and layering method using, a new additive which made the ship more sturdy and massive, but compared to the last ship is one and a half times heavier, a positive strategy for us concerning the race performance we gave. Specifically, we tried to pay attention to every viewpont of the design optimizing it for racing by being easily rowable.

  • explained Fehérvári Imre, who also added that some of the participants canoes had broken their hull or sunk during the race.

The race took place next to Delft on lake De Grote Plas, where the race participants could take part in 50, 100 and 200 meter races as well as in male, female, mixed categories allowing taems, to show their skills in all 9 different grouping. The organizers only gave awards for first place with, other results not having significance.
