Alfons Dintner gave a presentation on „How I became a CEO?” detailing his life path while visit Széchenyi István University recently. The head of the company gave useful advice to those students of the university who also imagine their future as leaders either of a corporation or as an entrepreneur.
At the event dr. Erzsébet Knáb, founding president of the István Széchenyi University Foundation presented on Audi’s role in global vehicle production, the importance of the brand, and the positive synergistic relationship between Audi Hungaria Zrt. and Széchenyi István University.
Regarding Mr Dintner’s talk, dr. Erzsébet Knáb stated to the attending students
“If you want to be leaders or managers, pay attention to his presentation, because he is an excellent specialist, an outstanding practitioner of strategy and production management and has done great work in many other fields as well. You can learn a lot from his experience, world view and life path.”
“Everyone gets from life, what they allow themselves”- this was the upper-cutting remark that the head of Audi discussed first. He further went on to emphasized that when we get opportunities, but we need to take advantages of them. Alfons Dintner, first trained as a locksmith and then continued his education with finally obtained an engineering degree.
He emphasized “I went through the ranks step by step, I took advantages of the opportunities. If others said something was impossible, unsolvable, then I became interested in it, and this is my practice still to this day. I gained a lot of experience and new knowledge at my stations abroad, so I also encourage students to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the university and participate in international programs.”
All of this confirmed by his personal life example, since he lived in eight countries for a long time, including Spain, Belgium, Mexico and in addition to Audi, he also worked for other brands of the Volkswagen concern, including Seat, Skoda, Bentley and Lamborghini. At the age of 56 he became the head of Audi Hungaria Zrt. in Győr.
He emphasized that anyone who wants to be a leader must accept the challenges, tasks and responsibilities that await them.
Alfons Dintner spoke about Audi’s social responsibility, supporting the environment, and the steps needed to be taken for a more livable world and sustainability. He specifically mentioned the role of social responsibility in education, training and talent management, which in turn also positively affects the students of Széchenyi István University by providing an opportunity to establish their careers.
