The team was formed in 2014 at the Vehicle Development Department of Széchenyi István University. ART participates in the Formula Student competition series, competing in the internal combustion vehicle category. Formula Student is an international engineering competition series whose goal is to design, build, and market a formula car, which is carried out exclusively by university students.
In 2014, Arrabona Racing Team became the first Hungarian Formula Student team to win first place overall in an international Formula Student competition. No other Hungarian Formula Student team has achieved a similar result in recent years.
Among their most notable achievements are their overall second place finish in the 2022 season at Formula Student Germany and their overall second place finish at Formula Student Austria. In addition, they also managed to secure third place overall at Formula Student East on their home turf in 2022.
Currently, nearly 60 team members are working on two projects at Arrabona Racing Team. The primary project is the development of ART_10, an internal combustion Formula Student vehicle, while students are also working in parallel on the development of a Driverless Formula Student vehicle.
