Széchenyi István University hosted the twelfth stop of the National Gaming Expo (OGEX) in Győr this year where a colourful and extensive program awaited everyone from elementary school to university students. The event had a huge attendance: besides educational lectures and quizzes the participants could try out a range of virtual simulators, retro PC games, board games and other computer games, some developed using the more leading-edge technology.
After the successful tour of the event last year, this year again the OGEX visited every Hungarian county, this time from September to the end of November. The program in Győr was hosted by the Széchenyi István University on October 12th.
“The main goal of our event is to bring and popularise the message nationwide that gaming is an e-sport when introduced alongside educational content. In addition to the advantages of computer games we consider it important to bring attention to the potential dangers too where young participants and event visitors could participate in prevention lectures about gaming addictions as well as internet bullying” – emphasised Gergely Csanda, the operational director of OGEX.
At the expo those interested could try their hand at different stands or event areas: on the BARD platform the gamers could fine tune their reflexes and sensorimotor skills, at the booth of the retro-PC the younger generation had the chance to see and experience the favourites of gaming’s “prehistoric era” and last of not least, participants could jump into virtual car simulators and race each other for prizes.
“The National Gaming Expo’s event in Győr is an especially highlighted affair due to the dedicated e-sport hall and its managing sports association and faculty department at the Széchenyi István University, where the gaming world is truly represented at multiple levels. Furthermore, it is a special pleasure for us that the university welcomed our event very openly and with excellent cooperation and support that allowed us to convey the OGEX message to many in the city” – highlighted the main event organiser.
