The Széchenyi István University will host the National Gaming Expo (OGEX) in Győr-Moson-Sopron County on October 12th. The event, which is free of charge, offers computer games and virtual simulators as well as other educational programmes. The roadshow, which brings together e-sports enthusiasts, gamers, and gaming lovers from all over the country, will tour all the nation’s county capitals between September 8th and November 26th.
Following the great success of last year, the National Gaming Expo (OGEX) will be held again this year in Győr and to be hosted by the Széchenyi István University. One of the institution’s main goals is to provide students with the same innovative and high-quality opportunities in sports as it does in education and this includes E-sports too. For example E-sports are very popular among students as both a sport and course curriculum. The e-sport department of the Széchenyi István University Sports Association (SZESE) is very successful, thanks to the extremely modern equipment and its innovative and creative faculty and management.
OGEX is looking forward to welcoming all gamers and e-sports enthusiasts on October 12th at Széchenyi University E-sport Hall.
Organised by the Hungarian Association for E-Sports, OGEX is a free event for all Hungarian video gamers. In addition to computer games, e-sports and community-building, the National Gaming Expo will also focus on education, with a special focus on preventing online bullying and using the internet properly. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in professional round-table discussions where experienced journalists will talk to invited experts and try to find answers to the most important questions in the gamer’s life.
Young gamers will also have the chance to try out retro games that have been a hit for decades, compete against each other on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, race on virtual simulators, take photos with cosplayers and compare their skills with the pros on the BARD platform. For those who want to step out of the virtual space, there’s a board game zone and a gamer museum full of relic equipment and paraphernalia. Participants can also win valuable prizes courtesy of PlayIT. SZESE’s e-sport department faculty will also be present at the October 12th event with car and drone simulators, consoles and VR headsets, as well as the opportunity to enter an EAFC24 competition organised by SZESE during the event
Participants will be able to try out a range of simulators at the OGEX Győr stand.
OGEX will also organise a national Rocket League competition, where players will compete in regional finals following online qualifiers. The best players from each county will have the opportunity to compete against the best of best on the Hungarian e-sports scene during the grand finals to be held in Budapest in November.
